| This non-profit organization is dedicated to teaching Flamenco dance plus special courses for the non performer to understand and appreciate what they are seeing and learn the "palmas" (hand clapping) that is so much a part of the total flamenco art. Located in the beach town of Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, Spain the Center is also the home of the Raquel Peņa Flamenco Dance Company (the professional company)and The Sevillanas Club Flamenco dancers (Adult amateur Company). There is no age limit to learning flamenco. There are classes offered for the serious student who wishes to make this a career and eventually join the professional company and other classes for the aficionado, who just does it for their personal enjoyment and knowledge and can perform with The Sevillanas Club Flamenco Dancers, a non-professional group. |
The professional and non-professional classes are never mixed, each student who comes to this center is evaluated taking into consideration many factors, such as age, free time, talent, dedication and than placed into the classes best suited to that individual. At the end of each school year each student has a private meeting with Raquel to discuss progress and next years agenda. |
